Easter or the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the oldest and most important holiday in the Christian calendar, including the Armenian Apostolic Church. The main ceremonies related to Easter begin on Saturday and end on Monday. On Saturday evening, a liturgy of Christ’s resurrection is being performed, ending the seven-week Lent. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the congregation greet each other, saying, “God has risen.” Easter Sunday is a day of church service and a divine liturgy is served, too. Traditionally, Armenians color eggs with the peels of red onion, and then they fight their eggs. It is also a tradition to eat Easter eggs with tarragon, salt, and lavash.
