The Gelati Monastery Complex is located about 11 km northwest of Kutaisi in Imereti region in the Tskaltsiteli river valley. It was established by The King of Georgia David IV The Builder (1089-1125). The ensemble encompasses buildings from different periods, mainly from XII-XIII centuries. It is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. In 2010-2017, the monument was listed as an endangered monument, however it was taken from the list on 10 July 2017.
